This was a great buy for 29.99 + Free Ship from Amazon. The computer model
we installed in this case went fine. The Case is very sturdy, has no sharp edges,
and has gobs of room for 140mm fans and 120mm Fans - not to mention ample
room for any motherboard. We are not fond of black that much (too difficult
to see details) but we had it painted White (professionally done). The only
con is the the front bezel has be removed (and it is no easy task) to install
a Front Fan which is really needed to keep the hard drives cool.
The case does not come with a power supply so we installed a 550 Watt
Thermaltake. This case has great cable and wiring accessibility and
the overall design is good - especially with the Power Supply being
located on the bottom (once again - not supplied). The front panel
has USB connections with audio plug ins, and 2 dim accented LED lights.
Also - the 2 top 120 to 140mm Fan make it impossible (virtually) to
install a 5.25 Optical drive on the top bay. We compensated that by
installing the 3.5 memory card reader using an adapter (5.25 to 3.5)
on the top bay and the optical drives on Bay 1 and 2. This case
does not have an external 3.5 external bay (another con), but regarding
the price,sturdiness, and good quality of the case, it deserves 5
stars. The Shipping was double-boxed, was professionally done,
and arrived undamaged and in a timely manner.

Bought it for my home theatre... It plays my bluray ripped movies simultaneously on multiple platforms (mac, windows, apple tv!) without a problem!! As a product it's feature packed! With UPnP, iTunes server, Microsoft and apple protocols, active directories, and so on... Must have a Gigabit network to enjoy it's true potential.

Was looking for a 5 or 6 drive NAS to use in a mixed PC and Mac environment. Considered Synology and QNAP, and after quite a bit of researching, chose the TS-659 Pro II. What a fantastic unit! Well built, quiet, my 6 Samsung F4 2TB drives run very cool (32-33 C), and I am getting about 100 MBs writes over AFP from my MacPro. The web administration & configuration client is very comprehensive and easy to use - initial setup was quite simple and only took about 10-15 minutes to format the drives (RAID 5). Rebooting the unit is pretty slow, but that should be pretty infrequent. So far, I am just using the AFP and SMB file sharing, so I cannot comment on the numerous more advanced features.

Great unit in spite of the rather steep price (at least for home use).

I had 500 GB SATA Hard drive that I really wanted to use on a "older" computer. Unfortunately it did not have SATA connections, so I decided to buy this card. My motherboard BIOS did not see this card, hence can't boot from the SATA HD, and it did not have necessary firmware (such as settings for serial HD) for me to hack to get the SATA HD to work from boot-up. However, when I boot from IDE HD, and the Windows XP could see the SATA HD just fine. So, it is likely to be best served for motherboards that you KNOW can see or hack to get it to work with SATA for booting purposes OR use it as some type of RAID configuration, or even simply adding HD for storage/backup configurations. It is likely to be useful for external SATA connections, since it has external SATA connector.

This is a great product. Easy to install, set-up & configure, and rock-solid performance so far.

Having been dealing with a competitive product (Snap Servers), I can state with certainty this product line is great. The Snap servers are kludgy and their support is abyssmal - nickel and dime you for every function that comes standard with these units. I spent way too much time, effort, and money trying to get them to do simple backup, restores, and synchronization. I want those months of my life back; but alas...

The Qnap interface is excellent, the notification system, logs, set-up, configuration, all well ordered and easy to access from their web interface.

I do not know about the long-term reliability, but that will play out in the coming months. The tools for raid and ability to put in your drives and go is heads above the competition.

I haven't played with the enhanced features such as the itunes server and web options, but the interface and accessibility so far, share creation, ability to simply use it as a solid NAS, is just excellent!

The cost of this unit is a bit higher than other NAS's I've used (the drives aren't included in this model, for example), but this is a small price to pay since hard drives are low cost items now (hence the term redundant array of INEXEXPENSIVE disks). Being able to put in a drive, and not needing it 'pre loaded' with some obscure operating system is a benefit.

The LED window on the drive telling you what is going on is very helpful to have.

Purchasing a computer formerly used in a corporate environment provides a more robust "infrastructure" for reliability and expansion; if you're willing to take a chance. While the description of "insanely fast" is a stretch, it is a fast computer for it's category. But, more than fast, the small niceties like easy card addition (a small "door" opens to reveal the card slots, clearly done to make changes easy for corporate IT workers). Or, for example, the easy-open case, clean interior layout, wise placement of hard-drive slots at the bottom of the case and upgraded components - all make for a stable corporate computer that will last through my typical 5-7 year product lifecycle.

Everything you need is there, PCI, PCI Express, Firewire and plenty of USB 2.0 ports; even an old floppy disk for the occasional small file transfer, or emergency boot disk. The only thing I had to add was a wireless network adapter (Rosewill RNX-G300EX/LX), which worked flawlessly. I used the Microsoft Zero Configuration Utility option included on the CD. This wireless card comes with an antenna on a 4 foot cord, which makes placement for best reception easy and its under $20..

The motherboard (Dell) has plenty of room for expansion, with lots of slots, support for 4 Sata drives a massive and quiet 5 inch chip fan along with the usual power-supply fan and front-end fan. All very quiet and cool-running according to my Everest monitoring utility. The 375 watt power supply is adequate for my needs and the dual-monitor Invidia card lets me have my preferred working environment.

In short, a nice machine for the money even at it's original corporate price, but an "insane value" at $285 from EZ Buy Cafe. It came quicker than estimated, was properly packed and the included operating system CD is preferred by me over hard-drive versions. After installation of anti-virus software, a firewall and my personal environmental applications (Iconicity, Roboform and Tweak UI) I was up and running immediately.

I predict increasing success for this business model, where recycled corporate computers are refurbished and given a second life in the consumer market. It appeals to folks like me who enjoy not only a good, well refurbished bargain, but the thought that it helps the ecology in a small, but tangible way. Sure, Tiger and other computer retailers have comparably priced machines, but these have cheap and unreliable power supplies, questionable components and an eye on profit margin rather than quality. A former corporate computer (especially Dells) has to be able to survive in that environment and is more robust for that reason.

All in all: Highly Recommended for novice and expert alike.

Well I decided to make a small(ish) build for performance, gaming, and leisure.

Antec mini p-180
Asus maximus iii gene (this board)
4x2 gb gskill 1600 ddr3 ram
i7 875k intel processor
Thermalright Ultra 120 heatsink /w fan
nvidia gtx570 graphics card
linksys wireless adapter

Everything fits easy, no problems getting the mobo to recognize the processor or ram, bios is laid out well. If you get an old revision of the board, you can update using an included ez flash utility. Also, I was able to put the ram in and then fit the heatsink horizontally on the board (so that you cannot pull 1-2 sticks of the ram out w/o removing the heatsink).

One thing I did want to mention, is that the receptor pins in the cpu socket are all uniformly slanted. They don't stick straight up(atleast mine didn't), but slant towards each other. I thought I got a bad board, until everything worked without a problem.

And don't stick the usb into the 1394 slot ;)
